The Exchange Club of Gratiot County will host their 17th Annual Fishing Derby on June 10, 2006, along the banks of the Pine River.   This exciting and fun event will take place at the Pine River Park in Alma (near the cemetery).

This activity provides our Community’s youth an opportunity to spend an exciting morning with a favorite adult, engaged in the All American pastime of fishing.  Derby participants range in age from 5 to 15 and vie for the largest fish within their age category to win a variety of prizes, such as a new fishing rod and reel, landing net, or tackle box.  Every participant is guaranteed one chance to win a free bicycle and helmet, with their chances increasing with every fish they catch and weigh in.

In addition, all participants are provided “goodie bags” of fishing items, and free crawlers.  A picnic lunch from the grill, with all the trimmings, is provided free of charge for kids and adults alike.

This years “Derby” hours are from 8:30 – Noon.  Rain or shine, we are looking forward to seeing you at this years Exchange Club Fishing Derby.
